Project description

Angrusori is an artistic and cultural partnership between musicians from the Slovak Roma music community, the Norwegian alternative group Kitchen Orchestra, and Iva Bittová. The project is led by the civic association Žudro from Slovakia and two independent art organizations from Stavanger, Norway, Tou Scene, and Kitchen Orchestra. The project partners are also academic institutions (Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, and the University of Stavanger), where workshops and symposia will be held. The name Angrusori, taken from a Romani folk song in translation, means a ring and, with its circular shape, symbolizes the equality of all ethnicities and cultures. The project builds on the previous successful collaboration, which resulted in the music album Angrusori. The songs on the album were created by a fusion of traditional Romani songs, improvisation, and the author's contribution and composition by Nils Henrik Asheim and Iva Bittová. It is improvisation that connects the diversity of individual musicians, guarantees the aesthetic individuality and interaction of the group. The main goal of the project is to expand the repertoire of the music group using the same creative principles and introduce it to the audience during several concert tours in the years 2022 - 2023 in Slovakia and Norway.
