Fund for Bilateral Relations

Special Fund for Bilateral Relations has been set up to directly support bilateral cooperation as part of the framework of the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021. The establishment of this fund builds on a very successful financial instrument from the programme period 2009-2014 – bilateral fund on national level, thanks to which dozens of bilateral activities leading to establishment or development of partnerships between Slovak institutions and institutions from Donor states have been supported. These activities were focused mainly on skills sharing, examples of good practise and know-how transfer.

The purpose of the Fund for Bilateral Relations is still the financial support of institutions in Slovak Republic and in Donor states in initiatives that facilitate skill exchange and strengthening of bilateral cooperation. This is one of the two main aims of the EEA and Norway Grants. The total allocation for the Fund for Bilateral Relations in Slovak Republic is 2,62 mil. €. It is expected that within the implementation of the fund the Calls for proposal will be open for the applicants as well as pre-defined initiatives with a significant potential for strengthening of bilateral relations between Slovak Republic and Donor states (Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein). Part of the allocation will be used also by Programme Operators with the aim to achieve the goals and to support the bilateral cooperation in individual programmes.

As a part of the Fund for Bilateral Relations it will be possible to apply for support for activities that will have a character that contributes to development of bilateral cooperation (this may include for example seminars, workshops, conferences, study trips, studies and data collection, information activities and so on).

Planned date of announcement of the first Calls for proposal within the Fund of Bilateral Relations is May 2019.
