Project description

How gallery collections use exhibitions, publications and research has recently changed significantly due to new approaches in the arts, work with audiences and technologies. The mainstream art narratives of the 20th century are based on national and ethnic constructs, movements, and styles and often fail in this. Understanding gallery collections means adopting other perspectives: artists as actors (or dissidents) of different cultural and political systems, art as a bearer of national identity, or the position of women in art history. All project activities are innovative in the context of Slovak and Norwegian museums and focus either on audience development or its involvement and support of intercultural dialogue. The project will create digital content that responds to societal issues such as gender equality, minority culture and freedom of artistic expression. The project directly supports cultural actors from the creative sector who feel the negative impact of the pandemic.
